About Us
Richard and Elaine have lived in Geraldine New Zealand since 2006. They had previously lived and worked in the UK, USA and Queensland prior to settling in Geraldine. The concept of a venture into the “hosting” business rather than the “accommodation” business had always been one that appealed as an opportunity to combine their love of meeting people and genuine flair for hospitality.
Both have “corporate” backgrounds with Richard enjoying a career in marketing, diverse - most particularly in the Australian Wine Industry. Elaine is an HR consultant and a highly respected Trainer with a keen interest in people development and team building.
Both enjoy good conversation and meeting folk, Richard’s interests include fly-fishing, wine and Scotch whisky (in any order!) whilst Elaine enjoys theatre, music and arts of any kind (the original “culture vulture”!) but mostly anything that makes her laugh.
Taylor’s at Geraldine has been built after a long and fruitless search for the “right” building to convert into a Homestay operation. The result of constructing rather than adapting an older property has meant that guest needs have been paramount in all the design and build considerations. Consequently the guest rooms and bathrooms have not been squeezed into an adapted space but rather the rest of the house has been constructed around them.
