The Location

The Canterbury region lies between the mountains and the sea in the South Island of New Zealand. This large region features spectacular scenery including the Southern Alps, Mount Cook National Park, the Canterbury Plains and wild Pacific coastline.

Canterbury has huge range of activities and experiences for visitors from skiing and snowboarding to whale watching and wineries. The Alpine Pacific Triangle touring route links three popular Canterbury destinations - Hanmer Springs, Waipara Valley wine region and Kaikoura.

Taylor’s is less than two hours from Christchurch International Airport and 90 minutes from Christchurch city centre.

Geraldine is a small rural town, steeped in history and Taylor’s is just seven minute's drive from the village's cafes, restaurants, art gallery, boutique shops and historic buildings, including a privately owned cinema. There are also plenty of opportunities for activities such as fishing, hunting, tramping, rafting or follow the Art trail that takes you to local artist’s homes and galleries.

Geraldine is situated 45 minutes from Mt Dobson and one hour from Mt Hutt Ski Fields. We are one hour from the spectacular Lake Tekapo (Hot Springs and Ice Skating) and 2 hours from Mount Cook village. The wonderful Central Otago wineries at Cromwell are just 3 hours away with Queenstown another hour further on from there.

Staying in Geraldine, you are right where the action is when it comes to the regions attractions. At Taylor’s we appreciate that most guests prefer absolute privacy but wish you to know we are on hand to share our extensive knowledge of the local area or accompany you on guided tours if required.
